Paper instead of plastic

Environmental awareness starts with small steps, which is why we’ve given our packaging concepts a complete makeover.

Packaging is almost always essential to a product, but also produces the most waste – and the trend is rising. So how can sustainable and recyclable packaging concepts be designed?

The fact is that it’s not just about creating less plastic waste but reducing the complexity of packaging materials overall. Because eco-friendly materials can also make waste sorting easier.

Developing packaging designs that can be recycled is an ongoing process. Therefore, since the launch of our FlipTop Push, we’ve been protecting new products by placing pieces of cardboard instead of bubble wrap in the boxes. This option isn’t just sustainable and secure, but also practical. Because EVOline’s products are placed securely in the box, we prevent damage during shipping and don’t have to use plastic bubble wrap.

We’re particularly proud of the new packaging for our Square80. Thanks to our new concept, we were able to cut the amount of plastic used by 90%. As a result, the packaging is just as smart as the product itself. From now on, the product will be fixed with stretch film to a cardboard insert, which also has a double bottom where the cables are stored so that they’re not loose in the box.

The clever part is that in Germany, all of the packaging, including the stretch film, can be disposed of in paper banks because the proportion of plastic is way under the permitted 4%. Therefore, there is no longer any need to sort waste due to cardboard, bubble-wrap bags and air cushions. Our vision is to adapt this concept for other solutions in order to enhance our packaging design even further and decrease the level of waste permanently.
